Gloucester Triangle

Gloucester, UK, 2009

Client: Gloucester Heritage Urban Regeneration Company (GHURC)

This master plan for the regeneration of an area of derelict railway land in Gloucester was prepared by a multi-disciplinary team led by Guy Briggs (with EDAW | AECOM). The master plan proposes two new residential neighbourhoods, as well as an innovation and research hub, which will expand the capabilities of Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, adjacent to the site.

The master plan establishes two principal character areas, and is supported by strategies for land use, legibility, density, definition of street frontage, open space and public realm, movement and accessibility, utilities networks, and sustainability infrastructure.

The team was appointed after the existing consultant team had failed to deliver a master plan having been in place for a period of 12 months. The EDAW | AECOM team subsequently delivered this master plan over a three month period, including public consultation and exhibition; the master plan remains the driving vision for development in the area to date.
